It is recommended that women with PCOS have a regular period – minimum every 3 months or at least 4 periods per year.
If you have a period at least every 3 months then no further action is required.
If you take the combined contraceptive pill or the progesterone only contraceptive pill, or you have a contraceptive implant (Nexplanon) or Mirena coil no further action is required even if you do not have a regular period.
If you are not using any of the above methods and you do not have a period at least every 3 months, please make a routine telephone appointment with a GP.
